Check the rule’s date
Rules published for July 2026 change low-value treatment. Ask the representative to validate classification, scope, procedure and charges for your shipment rather than reusing an old table.
Preparing import information
Before comparing quotes, prepare the goods description, quantity, value, origin and destination, and identify the importer and representative. Request separate transport, customs handling, tax and other applicable charges. Review classification and declarations with the party responsible for customs; a local checklist does not itself determine how an import is treated.
Keep the source and review dates
In the shipment file, keep the cited official source link, its publication date and the date you requested a case review. Record the passage used and its issuing institution. If an older table arrived by email, retain it as an earlier version and request confirmation of the applicable information. An announcement’s publication date, a date mentioned within its text and the date of your enquiry are separate records. Do not replace them with a single undated note or a copied summary.

Enough detail for a case review
Instead of asking only whether a parcel is low value, send the product description, quantity, declared value, origin and destination. Identify the importer and representative consulted. Ask for the answer to identify the shipment reviewed, documents considered and any missing information. A broad description such as accessories may need clarification; retain the most precise commercial description available. If contents or value change, submit the updated version before reusing an earlier answer. Keep unresolved classification or procedure questions assigned to the customs representative.
Keep the answer with the quote
When the representative answers, attach the review to the matching transport quote. Keep transport, customs handling, taxes and other stated charges on separate lines. Mark items awaiting confirmation and the person who should resolve them. If an offer provides only a total, request its scope and breakdown before comparing it. This arrangement preserves the decision for the specific shipment; it does not turn the file into a legal determination or a charge table for future imports with different facts.
